Pellets & Hay

Hay: should be fed unlimited (meaning as much as your rabbit wants) on a daily basis. We pile our rabbit's litter boxes full every morning and evening so they will get as much hay as they want. Hay can also be put in hay baskets in their pen, or around the house for extra munching. Hay is one of the most important parts of a rabbit's diet. Make sure you rabbit is eating lots of hay! If you are overfeeding pellets, your rabbit will not eat as much hay, so make sure you are limiting pellets and giving the right amount based on your rabbits weight. If you have questions about your rabbits diet, call us at 909-591-7200 or email Caroline. We are here to help! We bag our hay on a weekly basis and always search out the best source. Our buns love our hay and yours will too. Free Samples of our Hays are available!

Hay can be ordered in custom size quantities. Please email caroline@bunnybunch.org or call toll free (866) 882-8669

Photo The original Herb Blended Hay
Bay leaves, Rosemary and Lavender blended in with our Oat Wheat and Barley hay. This hay is great as a treat or just added to your regular hay. Place it in baskets or hay balls for a nice surprise for your rabbit. We came up with this idea to encourage picky eaters to eat more hay. Vets have even suggested it to entice sick buns to eat.

Pellets: Good quality pellets are essential when it comes to your rabbit's health. The fiber content should be 20% or more. We give Timothy pellets to our adult rabbits as the calcium level is lower and they are not as fattening as Alfalfa pellets. We suggest about a quarter cup for a 5 lb rabbit. If you overfeed pellets, your rabbit will not eat enough hay. Avoid pellets that have nuts, corn, cereal-looking bits or treats - it is just added sugar and carbohydrates, which we don't consider being part of a healthy diet.
